Rte. 130 from Champaign to West Salem
Estimated time: 2 hours and 15 minutes - Approximately 130 miles
- Go South on Route 130 from Champaign - (Found
on the East side of Champaign-Urbana.)
- You will pass through Philo and Villa
Grove and will need to turn right (west) to continue
on Rt. 130 south and quickly turn left (south) to continue on Rte. 130.
You should see a sign here that says you are 76 miles from Olney, IL.
- Continue on through Charleston. Make sure to
follow the signs for Rt. 130 through town. You will enter from the north and
enter into a small section of town where Rt. 130 will
turn left (east) at railroad crossing. It will wind through town and
continue to take you southward.
- Continue on through Greenup and then through
Newton on south Rt. 130. In Newton, you will
come to the second stoplight and make a left (south).
The route should be clearly marked. You will continue on through Olney.
- You will travel approximately 15 minutes from Olney
to the West Salem crossroads. Between Olney and the crossroads, you will pass
by signs for the small towns of Calhoun and Parkersburg.
- After passing through Parkersburg and the two curves, you will travel approximately
3-4 miles to the West Salem crossroads. You will see a couple of houses
and a small car lot/garage on the right (west), a house on the left (east)
and a billboard on the left (east). Here, you will turn left (east) and continue
to West Salem.
- When you reach West Salem, the road forks. Continue
to the right which will take you into town. Continue on through town
until you reach the community square/park.
- You must turn right (south) here. Go half way
around the square and turn right (east). The
church is on the second block on the left hand side. The parsonage sits across
from the church on the east. Parking is available on the north, south, and
east sides of the church.
