From the Pastor's Desk...

We are the only Moravian Church in the State of Illinois and the founders of the village of West Salem. The Moravian Church is the oldest Protestant Church still in existence founded in 1457. The mission of the West Salem Moravian congregation is to help lead one in the direction of our Savior Jesus Christ. Our worship is not about one form of worship over another, but aimed at pointing one to Jesus. John 12:21 to me says it best.

"They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said, "we would like to see Jesus."

It is our hope that you will see Jesus on this website and in the life of our congregation.

If you are in the area, we hope you will join us for worship. If you are new in the area, please come, and we hope that you will make our church your new church family.

The time for our services on Sunday are 9:00 a.m. Sunday School and 10:10 a.m. worship from the Second Sunday in September until the last Sunday in May. From the first Sunday in June until Labor Day weekend worship is at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday School follows worship.

Here are some of the ministries that the church is involved with:

Adopt-a-Village offering (supports orphan children in Africa)
"Joyful Noise" offering ( for local mission projects)
Outreach meals for the community throughout the year - one special meal takes place on Thanksgiving Day
Family Night
Joint Vacation Bible School with Zion United Methodist Church
Community worship services
Summer youth camps
Youth Fellowship

Moravian Women
Harvest Fest (alternative Halloween celebration for community)

We welcome all to join us.

God Bless you and your family,

Rev. Terry W. Weavil
